What's more, the character that Newton played was named Thandiwe herself, making the "Thandie" spelling error in the film's credits particularly disrespectful. It all started when the "w" was omitted in the credits of her very first project, 1991's Flirting co-starring Nicole Kidman. So it'll likely surprise fans to know that Newton's been going by a variation of her given name for decades.
